Booger King
So I think that working in fast food has caused me to be more critical of other fast food place's services. My boyfriend and I went to a local Burger King the other night, and man.. it sucked.
We walked in around 9 pm and they had half of the lobby closed off, which is understandable because it's almost closing time. The side they did still have open had almost-dry soda all over the floor which made in kind of gross to walk on due to the sticky quality. There was probably 4 or 5 people behind the counter, and the manager was up front. Kind of a gross looking man, unfortunately.
Now, as a manager (or just a polite person, maybe?), I tend to greet my guests when they come in the restaurant. You know - say "Hi," with a smile, ask them how they are... that kind of stuff. And if my front cashier is not within sight, I take the order for them so they don't have to stand around wondering what's taking so long, when clearly there's people available to help them. After yelling his cashier's name a few times, he finally stepped up to the register to take our order. He was not courteous, he was not polite, he did not smile. All of these things together almost had us turn and walk out the door.
After we ordered, we stood off to the side, waiting to get our food. As we waited, we had nothing better to do than watch the going-ons behind the counter. As with most fast food places Drive-thru seemed to be their priority, so we watched a couple orders get bagged and taken away before we saw what we thought was ours. Then we saw one of the crew members walk up to the manager and ask if she should throw away a messed up burger. We didn't hear what he said, but it must have been something snide, or sarcastic because the crew member looked offended and said she'd rather ask to throw it out than to throw it out and get in trouble for wasting food. That makes sense to me. So then I didn't like him even more.
When we did get our food, I asked for some barbeque sauce for my fries, and he kind of tossed it on the tray, instead of placing it on there or even in my hand. So we sat down to eat... 'cause you know.. that's what you do. Anyways.. Upon opening my burger, there was something on my burger bun. It was green and sticky looking. To really get a handle on how much we did not want to deal with this manager again, rather than going up to him and asking him what the hell was on my sandwich, I simply removed that piece of my bun, and continued on.
Now that I think back on it, it looked kind of like sticker residue, though of course my first thought was booger.
Anyways... I think that about sums up the worst Burger King visit I've ever had.
